Creepy Fan Manips

Yes, it’s that time. Now our eyeballs are going to be assaulted by creepy manipulations of the Twilight cast members made by people with too much time on their hands to play in Photoshop.

Seriously, there are almost too many of these things to choose from. I just did one page of a google search and found enough to do countless posts, so maybe this will become a regular feature…?  We’ll see how everyone likes it.

Ok first off, this is the creepiest thing I have ever

I Finally Did It

That’s right guys. I finally joined Twitter. I feel like I belong now!

I just spent the last 10 minutes making a profile for our blog, and I’m hastily trying to get everyone on my blog roll on my list. I’m so very new to all this, so if you have a Twitter, let me know so I can add you to my followed list. You can follow us (mostly me, like always) over at:

twitter.com/Twilog_Whitley

We have 0 followers right and we look like losers, so help us out!

I joined so I could participate in the “pounding RPattz” movement (read more about that here )today in honor of his birthday. If I am reading it right over there, he is currently at number 3 and we need to bump him up to the top spot ASAP!

We hope to see you guys there!

Twilight Central, AKA Our Apartment

I just went around the apartment (and out to the parking lot) to take pictures of all our Twilight merch, and I will just say that I’m going to have to do something special for Jeremy when he gets home, like spend all day making his favorite meal or something because I just realized exactly how tolerant he is of me and this Twilight obsession I have going on. As you will see with this post, he is really, REALLY indulgent of me.

Also, please no emails or comments signifying your concern for me after seeing all the stuff I’ve been hoarding. I know, ok? I know I’m a total weirdo. I need Twilight rehab, but if there even was such a thing, I wouldn’t go. If loving Twilight so much is wrong, I don’t want to be right! (Sorry if some of these are blurry, I have a crap camera). CIMG2133 This is one of the three Twilight posters in our living room. The things hanging down from the ends are the Twilight dog tag necklaces from Wal Mart that I practically went through hell and back to try to get. Jessie and I are planning on wearing these to the midnight showing of New Moon in November. Jeremy doesn’t think so now, but he will be wearing one too.

Poster number 2 in the living room

Poster number 2 in the living room

CIMG2021 This is the third poster we have, incidentally the first one we bought. It’s sharing the wall with one of Jeremy’s Beatles posters. See? We can live together in *singing* haarmonnyyyy! Funny story, my mom came over not too long ago and scoffed, “What are all these Beatles posters doing in here?” like our entire apartment should be just Twilight. Heaven forbid I actually allow Jeremy to display his things in our apartment. Oh, my mom. She’s so silly.

Next, we move into our closet sized kitchen. Twilight even managed to find it’s way in here too. CIMG2140 I was at another Wal Mart in our area (not the one in our town, nothing Twilight related in that hell hole) and saw these in the dollar aisle. Of course I had to get all three. They’re collectibles! I haven’t even opened them to try the candy inside. I’m curious to see if the hearts are actually sparkly.

Then there is the refrigerator. As soon as I saw the magnet set at Hot Topic, I had to have it. I still think that was a cute idea, although they need to work on the quality. I nearly tore that Twilight text logo to pieces trying to remove it from the packaging. CIMG2141 Hey, wait? What is Edward looking at with such smoldering, sexy intensity? Who is that hot beautiful beotch that Edward can’t take his eyes off of? CIMG2143 Oh, yeah. That’s me! (and that’s one of my senior portraits. I don’t usually pose for pictures like that, in case you were wondering) I think you’re pretty hot too, Edward. In fact…I-

Sorry, I got carried away. In a way, having Edward on my fridge is a good thing. I go in to superfluously snack and Edward is there to distract me. Edward Cullen is my diet plan!

Ok, moving on. Lets head down the hall. CIMG2028 We used to just have that Monet print. Classy and cultured, right? Well, it was missing some Twilight, so I took care of that. Now it’s perfect.

On to the bedroom. This is where the magic happens (unneccesary MTV Cribs refrence!) Jeremy was even so gracious to even allow Twilight to permeate here too. Super sweet (and smart) of him. CIMG2148 This is my favorite Twilight item in the house. It’s the giant 5 ft (that’s 10 inches taller than me!) Edward Cullen poster. This is only available at certain Blockbuster stores, and luckily I found it at our local store on first try. I absolutely adore it. Jeremy even helped me hang it up! It fits in with the bedroom since our decorating “theme” in there is black and white. Plus, I was already picturing him in there enough (oh snap!), so I’m glad we made that happen.

This is my bedside table. That GQ cover is gorgeous and I have the interview Rob did behind the cover in that frame too. The funky looking CD is the Twilight movie score soundtrack (thanks Jessie!) and under it is the Twilight:Director’s Notebook (again, thanks Jessie!). The prints on the wall are pencil drawings of New Orleans (my family is Cajun) except for the eye drawing. I drew that in high school art class.

I really need to change my flowers, huh? I’m trying to keep up with that. CIMG2149 Now, lets step outside to head downstairs. On the way to the front door, this is what we see every day. CIMG2168 Those are the party favors I got during the Twilight DVD release party at Hot Topic in March. I promise, a post with videos and pictures from that night is coming soon. I’m having issues uploading the videos to you tube (i.e, I can’t do it), but stay tuned because that post is coming very soon.

Also, ignore the bratty message Jeremy scrawled on our message board before he left. He lashes out any way he can, poor guy.

On to Jeremy’s truck, parked downstairs. This is the full proof of his love for me, that all the world gets to see as we drive around. CIMG2130 That’s right. We represent every where we freakin’ go. Apparently though, Jeremy has caught some flack for these stickers at his job. When the Team Edward one was pretty new, his boss came in to the office and said, “You know what Jeremy? Team Jacob. Team. Jacob.” Jeremy was a little confused until he remembered. It’s a running joke among his coworkers, which I think Jeremy is pretty cool about. Can I just say again that I feel so lucky to have someone who loves me so much?

Then, we have all the little things that migrate around the apartment as I use and move them. These are the things I use frequently. First, because it’s the most important, the very laptop I’m typing on now. It’s a Dell Mini 9, and it’s so tiny I can take it anywhere. I even use this thing in the bathtub (I’m talented that way). I haven’t had this thing very long, but I feel naked without it. It keeps me connected to the Twilight fandom (and my other real life family and friends too, ya know) CIMG2161 The stickers came from Hot Topic and so did the Twilight band-aids. Jessie bought the band-aids and let me have a few for decoration. I owe her a lot (Love you girl!)

Here is my laptop background image, which I think you’ll find as sexy as I do. CIMG2159 In case you can’t read the print at the bottom, it says, “Hey girl, are you thinking of me when you’re with him?” It’s one of the many examples of Rob Porn, which is featured at Letters to Rob and many other places on my blog roll. I don’t remember the exact place where I got this one from, but if you let me know I will credit you.

These are my keys. They are very loud. I can’t sneak up on anyone with these. The menacing black thing on my key chain is the holder from my mace. Jump back, pervs. I’m armed. CIMG2155 As I was taking that picture, Kitty came over to investigate.

My books and movies are just waiting around to be read/watched again. I have two copies of the movie. One from the Hot Topic party, and the other from Target so I could have that extra disc of goodies. When Jeremy and I finally join the rest of civilization and get an HD TV, we will get another copy of Twilight in Blu Ray. CIMG2164 I’m working on building my book collection up again. It’s smart to have a set for personal use, and another for loaning to friends who haven’t been indoctrinated yet. CIMG2166 Finally, the last thing for this post is someone the regular readers have been introduced to before. In a horrible accident, I ended up with Jessie’s Mini Edward along with mine, and they’ve been making friends until I can get him back to her. CIMG2153

Yeah, they’re besties.

Y’all, this isn’t even all my Twilight shiz. I didn’t even take pictures of all my T shirts or bags or buttons. This post will be continued. Give me a chance to build up my arsenal. I will certainly be adding to my collection in the next few months, especially since I’ve been doing lots of browsing on Etsy and E Bay.

Let us know in the comments, what is your favorite piece of Twilight merch? Anything you’re lusting after hardcore? Are you waiting on something special to hit stores?

I WANT!

Entertainment Weekly has some news on some new Twilight merchandise coming from the publishing company Little, Brown. These journals are going to be released on October 13 and will come in the decorative tin in the picture above. Also to be expected in the months leading up to the New Moon movie release are,

According to a press release from the publisher, the Breaking Dawn Special Edition, on stands Aug. 4, will include a DVD of the Breaking Dawn concert series and interviews with Meyer. Those who pick up the hardcover book can also expect a poster and reproduction of handwritten lyrics for “My Never,” by Blue October’s Justin Furstenfeld. For those hoping to buy books tied into New Moon, Little, Brown will release New Moon: The Complete Illustrated Movie Companion on Oct. 6 and New Moon trade and mass-market paperback tie-ins in September and November, respectively. They will also publish a New Moon Collector’s Edition on Oct. 6.

Time to start hoarding change so I don’t break the bank! I’m really looking forward to those journals. I have a weird almost fetish for anything writing related, and I’ve kept journals and diaries my whole life. I have beautiful journals that I’ve never written in because I can’t think of anything worthy enough to write in them. I foresee these Twilight journals will meet the same fate because they’re too beautiful to mar with my clumsy thoughts. I still can’t wait to have them, so they can have their own place on the bookshelf I’m going to get for all my Twilight stuff (Oh, Jeremy? If you’re reading this, we are going to get a bookshelf just for Twilight stuff. I just thought I should let you know. Kthanxbai).

Feeling the Blues

I just finished with all my finals and I’m feeling pretty blah. I’m just hoping that I passed everything and I’m worried about GPA. It doesn’t even make any sense. I want to be a librarian, not a scientist, so I shouldn’t even have to take physical geology. *stamps foot*

Anyway, I’m watching Twilight to cheer myself up. One of my favorite parts, the biology scene, just happened. Oh, Robward. That Jizz In My Pants moment gets me everytime.

Since I know there are a lot if us dealing with finals blues right now, here are some amusing fan vids about Twilight. I like these because I have a short attention span.

I also laugh at the “It’s Robert Pattinson, Bitch” videos too. There are three, and I hope she makes many more because I would watch and love them all!

Enjoy, everyone! More posts to come soon.

Twilight Saga Cakes For All Occasions

I check my little square on my blog page every day, and it tells me what all you guys are searching for when you find this blog. Of course lately we’ve been getting a lot of searches for “New Moon set” and “Robert Pattinson girlfriend” and today we got “Kristen Stewart in Vankuver” (really? I mean, really).

But I’ve been noticing that for the past few weeks, we’ve had a ton of people looking for Twilight cakes. Everyone has found this post I did over a month a go for Jeremy’s birthday, but over on newmoonmovie.org, I found a post with some amazing cakes inspired by Twilight, so I’m going to post some of my favorites here, since a lot of you are looking for them.

(source)

This one is really beautiful. I love the funky way it’s stacked and the little book cakes are adorable.

(source)

I really like this one because someone spent a lot of time working on the icing and the font on the books. It looks delicious!

(source)

This one is simple, but the beauty is in the details. I love the diamond ring and the paw print on top.

(source)

This one is breath-taking.  The font on the book is perfect and the shading on the hands is exact. I also love the extra touch of the ribbon book mark.

(source)

Hahaha, this made me laugh because it’s so freaking cute! A little Edward lounging on top, plus some cute quotes, this cake has it all!

I did some looking around on my own, and here are a few more really cool ones I found.

There are some really beautiful and creative cakes out there, and these were a few of my favorites. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few of these as wedding cakes, they are so gorgeous and elaborate. I think I know what kind of cake I’m getting for my birthday!

Is anyone else craving sweets now?

Chapter Discussions: Twilight, Chapter Six – Scary Stories

It’s way past time for another Chapter Discussion over Twilight. This time we are on Chapter Six, where Bella meets Jacob for the first time at La Push beach. These questions are from the Twilight Lexicon forums, created by user Alphie.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn’t a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

The first time I read the book, I thought it was a little weird. I didn’t know what he could be doing in such a bear infested place (but now I know why he brought Emmett!), and I thought that perhaps he had lied about where he was going.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

I hated Lauren because I didn’t know what her problem was. Plus, it sucks when people are mean to you for seemingly no reason, or things that aren’t your fault, so I hated her on behalf of Bella.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I thought Jacob was nice enough. I knew from listening to other people talk about the books that he was going to be an important character in the series because Bella would have to choose between him and Edward. I really didn’t see how that was possible, how such a thing could actually happen. I was more intrigued by his stories than anything at this point.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn’t believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

Jacob didn’t believe because he’s never had reason to. He grew up being told these were just legends, and he’d never had any proof or reason to think differently. Bella certainly did. Jacob’s story was the only thing that fit with what she knew so far about Edward.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the “cold ones” were true, did you fully expect to see werewolves in the future books?

I knew they were already there, but since I’m a little slow to things like this in books, I don’t think I would have actually thought of that until it happened.

I’m re-reading Twilight, and I’m on this chapter right now. I forgot how many little hints and how much foreshadowing there actually is in these first few chapters. Even though I know what’s going to happen, I still get excited when I read them. I’m hoping to get New Moon soon (my copy was loaned out and never returned (*cough* Kaitlin*cough*) so I can go from Twilight to New Moon with no lag time. No waiting in between Twilight saga books = a happy Whitley.

-Whitley

Hello everyone. I’m back at home for now, but I leave again tomorrow. This work project is nearly done, we hope, so I should be around a lot more.

Here are my answers to these questions.

1. What was your initial thought about the fact that Charlie told Bella Goat Rock wasn’t a good place for camping? Did you wonder what else Edward might be doing up there?

My initial thought was that Edward was going to be hunting. I already knew that Edward was a vampire because Whitley had told me before we even saw the movie.

2. How did you feel about Lauren and her open dislike of Bella?

I thought Lauren was a bitch and was glad she wasn’t in the movie.

3. What was your first impression of Jacob Black? Did you like him? Did you get the sense that he was interested in Bella as more than a friend?

I was sort of indifferent to him really. I was more interested in the story he told Bella because it was a dark story and I like those.

4. Why do you suppose Jacob didn’t believe the legends of his people as readily as Bella did?

Bella already knew something was up with that Edward Cullen character , from what she witnessed before. Jacob had no point of reference about Edward, so he had to reason to believe them.

5. Given the fact that the stories about the “cold ones” were true, did you fully expect to see werewolves in the future books?

I already knew that too (because of Whitley), but if I hadn’t been told, I probably would have expected it.

You guys can answer these questions yourselves in the comments, we would love to read your point of view. If you decide to answer them on your own blog, please let us know so we can link you.

Also, don’t forget to vote on our poll here so we can find out if you would enter in a contest to win free Twilight stuff or not. We are keeping the voting open two weeks so everyone who wants to vote for it will hopefully get a chance.

Hopefully I will be back home for good soon. I have more haikus coming soon too.

Why Is Twilight So Good? Part One

I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ve started reading Twilight again this week and now that I’ve had the chance to read the first few times for the joy of it, now as I’m reading, I’m trying to pinpoint the exact things about the book I liked and figure out why. I have a feeling that even this first part will be an epic post, so bear with me.

First of all, a little about me and my personality so you know where I’m coming from. I love to read. I learned how at an early age because my mom taught me before I went to kindergarten and I’m so thankful to her for this, I can’t even express it. It sounds so cheesy, but it really has changed my life. It is such an integral part of my personality, that I really should introduce myself as, “Hi. My name is Whitley and I love to read.” It is that important to me.

The benefits it’s giving me in my education are innumerable. I can actually spell and I have a decent size vocabulary, since I spend so much time looking at words. Because I read for pleasure, reading has always been a really fun activity for me, and as a result I don’t hate it so much when I have to for assignments in school. I actually loved it when we began to read the classics for English, because I had been reading them for years. I can also read super fast, and this is a double edged sword. It helps for stuff like school assignments, but sucks when I really love a book and never want it to end (I ended up reading Twilight for the first time in about 4 hours). Writing also isn’t as hard for me because I know what a story or essay was supposed to sound like, how the words were meant to flow together.

It’s one of the main reasons I decided to become a librarian. A library is automatically my favorite place on earth (they smell so good to me!) and there were reading contests at my local public library that I entered when I was a kid. I want to be a part of those, so other kids can learn how much fun reading is. I’ m even getting a little misty right now y’all,  just thinking about it, that’s how passionate (or dorky) I am about it.

What I’m about to say might make me sound like a bad person, but whatever. This is really how I feel. When I’m talking to someone and the subject of “What do you do for fun?” comes up, I mention that I read for fun. Sometimes I hear back from people, “Oh, I hate to read. It’s so boring.” When I hear someone say this, I really get sad. I feel bad for them, because I know they are missing out on such a great thing. I honestly believe everybody would love to read if they knew there were books out there about something that interests them.

Something that has always interested me is love. Even as a little kid, I loved love stories and fairy tales that involved it. Beauty and the Beast was and is to this day my most favorite story ever (and Belle loved to read too!). This hasn’t changed as I’ve gotten older, so a lot of the books I now own are romance novels, books of love poems, and classic love stories like Pride and Prejudice, Romeo and Juliet and Gone With The Wind.

When my mother first suggested last year that I read Twilight, I wasn’t interested in it at all. I had tried to read “teen” romances when I was younger and really didn’t like them. I also don’t really prefer science fiction or fantasy novels, so Twilight didn’t sound like anything I would be interested in at all. I even laughed at my mom when she would talk about how perfect Edward was, because it just seemed silly to me that someone would want to read about someone that there wasn’t even a chance could possibly exist (I should interject here that my favorite types of romance novels are historical ones, set back in different time periods, because I like to think that maybe it could have happened).

I finally decided to read Twilight out of pure curiosity before I saw the movie. I just wanted to be able to compare when people were talking movie vs book. Obviously I read it and loved it. I totally surprised myself.

Looking back on it now, Twilight is basically the perfect book for someone to like me. I love romance (and who is more romantic that Edward Cullen?), and the inspiration for all the books in the series were the classics that I grew up loving so much. The fact that Edward is a vampire is, to me, not even that vital to the story. It is just another example of his extreme awesomeness and uniqueness. To be different, the story needed that extra kick to take it from boy-meets-girl to gorgeous-vampire-meets-totally-ordinary-girl-and falls completely in love.

I think the reason so many women in particular love this story so much is because many of us feel like Bella from time to time.  Her character is written so you can project yourself in her shoes. While I was reading, I actually felt like the events in the story were happening to me. So many of us out there (myself included) have wondered in moments of stress or boredom what it would be like if someone came along and totally changed things for the better. It’s nearly so simple, you don’t even have to think it out. Life sucks sometimes. Our jobs are horrible, we have issues with family, relationship problems and so on. Who hasn’t dreamed of someone that is amazing and perfect coming in and rescuing you from your life?

There are some very deep themes in Twilight as well, which I don’t think a lot of people realize when they are dismissing the book.  Twilight is about being alone in world, then finding the person who makes you finally feel like you aren’t. Take Bella for instance (since Edward is the obvious choice, but I will get to him in a minute). Before she met Edward, she really did feel like an outcast. She never related to anyone around her, not even her mother. She is unusual in that, she doesn’t even really care about this and doesn’t try to change it. Like I was saying in my post here, I admire Bella for not dumbing herself down and changing her personality in order to make friends. If she had done that, the story never would have worked, since her NOT doing it was something Edward admired about her too.

Even though he’s the obvious choice when it comes to the theme of aloneness, Edward is a perfect example of this as well. I don’t even have to go into why he felt so desolate, even though he had a loving family surrounding him all the time. He was also soul crushingly bored before he met Bella. Think about how you would feel when there were no more mysteries in life anymore. What if you knew what everyone else around you was thinking at all times and had a sister who could predict the future? I mean, what would you do? What would you think about in your spare time? Additionally, think about how Edward felt about being surrounded by by loving couples when there was no one he had that bond with. He had already pretty much given up ever finding someone, so he really had nothing to look forward to and forever to live. When people complain that Edward is too smothering towards Bella, I want to ask them if they have even read the books. I totally understand why Edward and Bella became so obsessed with each other. She was the first thing to stimulate him (heh heh) in about 100 years. After seeing all humans the same for a century, all of a sudden here is this girl who he can’t read, who he can tell is way more mature than any other human, and who also smells delicious. Of course he’s going to be fascinated. And of course Bella really has no choice in the matter, because how could she not be intrigued with someone like Edward who felt that way about her? (Hmmm….this is starting to remind me of imprinting)

Because I think I have pontificated long enough, I will do another post soon about the rest of my thoughts on this (I really shouldn’t have more, but I do).

Y’all I just wrote over 1000 words on why I love Twilight, and I’m not even done talking about it.  At least I got all this stuff out of the way.

Bella Swan Makes Me Self-Conscious

I’m reading Twilight for the umpteenth time this week. My only copy of the book is being loaned out and I was having withdrawal pains, so Jeremy sweetly bought me another copy when we were at the the dreaded Wal Mart last week when he was home for a break.

As I am reading it again (I’m on Chapter 3), I’m struck by something I noticed the first few times I read the book. Bella is one responsible girl. She does the shopping for groceries, and actually knows what to buy once she’s there, AND she can cook the groceries into an actual dinner, THEN to top it all off she does her homework when she’s done! Also, in her spare time, she cleans the house.

In comparison, Jeremy and I go to the store on the hunt for groceries and end up spending about 70 bucks on stuff like Spaghettios and Chicken Noodle soup. I can only cook a few actual meals, and buy the time I’m done cooking, I’m just so tired of being in the kitchen I don’t even want to clean up, much less do my schoolwork after, and I never clean the apartment. Literally, it’s a mess right now.

This is one thing that has always bugged me when people try to claim Bella isn’t a good role model for young girls because she “fawns so much over a boy. Is that the message we want to be sending?”. I happen to think Bella really has her shiz together, before and after she meets Edward. She’s very astute and mature, and meeting Edward does not change this about her. You can fall in love with someone and still be yourself, which I don’t think young girls hear enough these days.

This evening, while I was attempting to read the first time biology conversation between Edward and Bella (damn math class, distracting me when I’m trying to read), I noticed something about Bella which ties into my point above. When they are done with their experiement and Edward says to her, “It’s too bad about the snow.”, Bella says, “Not really.” which then led to a discussion of how she really felt about her new home. This is important, I think, because she actually spoke her mind and didn’t lie to him just to go along with what he was saying. I know that Edward was just trying to make small talk with her to try to figure her out, but it would have been a totally different story had Bella lied just to agree and said instead, “Yeah, I really wanted it to snow. I love the snow and the wet!”. That’s not her personality at all, and Edward wouldn’t have gotten to know the “real” her since he can’t read her mind, just like the human guys women try to date all the time. When it comes to dating and meeting new people, everyone needs to be reminded that it’s ok to be yourself.

Some people probably think I’m reading too much into this, but it’s just little things like that peppered throughout the book that remind me just how smart and different Bella really is. So, in honor of that, I’m actually *GASP* going to clean up the apartment before I go to bed and do my homework a week early (since I usually do it right I have the class it’s due in). I’m going to try to stop procrastinating so much and actually do what I should be doing.

And oh yeah, and look up a few recipies while I’m at it.

Weekly Twilight Haiku #1

Hello avid readers, new-comers and all twifans. In case you didn’t know, I am a 4 time published poet (couldn’t tell you the books, as I don’t read them). So to continue on with my poetical genius, I have prepared a Haiku on the shuttle bus between the airport and the parking lot for you.

Twilight is
the be all end all
kthanxbai

To whom it may concern:

I am sorry for not keeping up my end of the bargain and posting more often.  I am happy to see how many people react to Whitley’s posts, and I love watching our hits go up in my absence.

I have been in Manhattan for the last month and a half, working 14 hour days, and coming home on the weekends where I just sleep, and cuddle kitty and Whit.

I really appreciate all of the people that visit our site on a regular basis.

Thank you!
